Arthur Moran

MACR: 10108

2nd Lt Arthur R Moran was assigned to the 301st BG 353rd Squadron. He was from Ellsworth WI
Military Occupational Specialty (MOS): Navigator.

I had the pleasure of meeting Major Art Moran (ret) last year. We corresponded both before and after our meeting. He was a crew mate of my father, Gus Spohn, and bailed out behind enemy lines with my father and the rest of the crew (MACR: 10108). He was captured and spent time in Stalag Luft I (2 were captured and 8 evaded capture and returned to base). He was only 19 years old when he served as the navigator and in my mind was a true American hero. He recently passed away, but I will remember him for his heroism in WWII and his kindness to me as I searched for information about my father's crew.

The following information on Arthur Moran is gathered and extracted from military records. We have many documents and copies of documents, including military award documents. It is from these documents that we have found this information on 2nd Lt Moran. These serviceman's records are nowhere near complete and we are always looking for more material.
