William Georgi
Capt William F Georgi was assigned to the 301st BG 352nd Squadron.

Bill was born in Nyack, NY, where he received his secondary education. He received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Denver in 1950 and a masters degree in political science from George Washington University in 1964. Military Schools he attended were the United Kingdom Joint Services Staff College, the Air War College and the State Department Senior Seminar in Foreign Policy.
In 1942 he earned his pilot wings and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He served as a B-17 pilot with the 383rd BG. In 1943 he became commander of the 352nd BS and flew 52 combat missions in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Europe. He was released from active duty in 1945.
During the Korean War in 1951, Bill returned to active duty. After transition and combat training, he went to Korea as a jet fighter pilot and became commander of the 9th and later the 8th Fighter Bomber Squadron of the 49th Fighter Bomber Group. He flew 148 missions in F-84 aircraft.
He also served on temporary duty in the Republic of Vietnam in 1965 as deputy commander of Project Skoshi Tiger, testing F-5 aircraft. He flew 162 in and out of country missions.
Bill was an inspired leader during his many commands. He retired in 1975.
He was awarded many military decorations including the Distinguished Service Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal.
Survivors include his wife Louise, his brother Emil and nephews Ernest, Putt and Greg, and niece Casey.
