Miles Orr

T/Sgt. Miles D Orr was assigned to the 301st BG 32nd Squadron.
Military Occupational Specialty (MOS): Engineer/Gunner.

Miles D. Orr was born in 1915 in Mount Vernon, Missouri, one of nine children. He enlisted in Florida on Dec. 7 1940 in Florida. He went to Geiger Field at Spokane, WA and then Alamogordo, New Mexico (1942). He served with the unit in N. Africa and Italy and then was reassigned to the General who succeeded Eisenhower at Commander/Europe, and served as his flight engineer. Miles worked in Maryland and DC, served as an assistant Scout leader, and wrote many poems and stories. He and his wife, H. Rita (Rooney) Orr had five children and lived in Maryland. They are in Arlington National Cemetery. "Portrait Through Poetry" features poems and many of his World War II era letters.
