Walter Oades

2nd Lt Walter H Oades was assigned to the 301st BG 32nd Squadron.

Walter "Babe" Oades flew 50 missions while serving in Foggia in 1944 with the 301st Bomb Group, 32nd Bomb Squadron. Following his European service, he trained with various aircraft, including the C-54. He flew the C-54 over the Pacific in late 1945, while based at Fairfield-Suisun AAB, Calif. After the war, he signed on with the Air Force Reserves, and retired as a Colonel in 1975. Colonel Oades died in 2006. His decorations and awards: Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters Distinguished Flying Cross Presidential Unit Citation with 1 oak leaf cluster, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal
