Fred Keener passed away on November 25, 2002

Staff Sergeant, 15th Air Force, 301st Bombardment Group, U.S. Army Air Forces. Served Six Months in European Theater of Operations as Airplane Armorer Gunner, B-17. 160 combat hours. Completed 21 combat missions.

Awarded the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with four Battle Stars and Air Medal with one Cluster. Stationed in Foggia, Italy. Battles and Campaigns in Rhineland, North Apennines, PO Valley and Central Europe.

Attended College Training Detachment, Wichita, Kansas; Airplane Armament School, Lowery Field, Colorado and Aerial Gunnery School, Las Vegas, Nevada.

A/C 44-6396 was the first aircraft Fred flew a mission in February 8, 1945. In March 1945, it crash landed on return from another mission with another crew.
