Jack Theriault
Awarded The Soldiers Medal for conspicuous heroism, initiative and personal example. On May 20, 1944, a P-51 type aircraft crash landed and immediately burst into flames. As a result of the intense heat, the machine guns began to fire, hitting eleven (11) men in their path. With complete and utter disregard for their personal safety, the above named enlisted men, (Pfc. William Tolbert and Cpl. Jack Teriault) heedless of possible injury to themselves from the exploding ammunition and the immediate danger of the aircraft exploding, made their way to the wreckage administering first aid to the wounded and successfully removing them to safety.
Cpl. Jack M Theriault Jr was assigned to the 301st BG 353rd Squadron.
