KIA 02/25/1944 on mission to Regensburg Germany - ACF A coordinated attack on Regensberg, GR by the 8th AF ( 685 bombers ) and 15th AF ( 294 bombers ). The 8th AF lost 31 bombers and the 15th AF lost 41 bombers. The 301st BG sent 31 B-17's on the mission. 13 301st B-17's were shot down. The 301st claimed credit for 49 GAF fighters shot down.
The 301st Bomb Group earned a Distinguished Unit Citation for the gallantry, courage, efficiency and devotion to duty they displayed on this mission
