Kyle Jones
Kyle Irving Jones, 80, of Salem, Virginia passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 at his residence. He was born September 5, 1925 in Giles County , VA a son of the late George Riley Jones and Maggie Pauline Bauman Jones. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Douglas, Lynn, Lawrence and Leo Jones and two sisters, Juanita Albert and Beulah Anderson. Mr. Jones was a retired superintendent for Arron J. Conner Construction Company with over fifty years of service. He served as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 Bomber during WWII with the 301st Bomb Group, 419th Bomb Squadron, 15th Air Force in Foggia , Italy. He was a 39 year member of Fort Lewis Christian Church where he served as an Elder and Trustee. He was a member of the Salem American Legion, Kazim Shriners, and a 50 year member of Taylor Masonic Lodge # 23. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. His surviving family includes his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce B. Jones; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kim Jones of Blue Ridge, Mark and Vicky Jones of Salem, Kyle and Nancy Jones of Hardy and Merritt Jones of Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Dennis Neitzel of Alvarado, TX; nine grandchildren, Kameron and Karlyn Jones, Travis and Sarah Jones, Michelle, Brandon, Alisa, Mathew and Jarom Neitzel; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Jones of Pembroke and G. R. Jones of Salem; three sisters, Mary Lois Shrader of Narrows, Pauline Bowles of Cayce, SC and Francis Ramsey of Port Charlotte, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Terry Elkins and Rev. Bill Murdock officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens , Roanoke with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Taylor Masonic Lodge # 23 and Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 1264. The family will receive friends Monday, August 14, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at John M. Oakey and Son. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at Fort Lewis Christian Church, Salem . Online condolences may be made at www.johnmoakey.com.
