Onan Hill
A note from Onan - 3/10/2012 I am still here and will be 91 this month. I flew my last mission on 26 Dec. 1944. I was a "Mickey Operator." I was transferred to Bari, Italy, 15th AF Hq. where I worked with a Capt Henderson, a Radar Engineer, to improve the operation of the radar currently in use. I think it was ANAPS-15. At end of the War in Europe, I navigated a B-24 back to the states, took an R and R, went to pilot school, washed out, took a refresher course in navigation and was transferred to the ATC and Fairfield-Suisun AFB,now called Travis, where I navigated C-54s across the Pacific and back. I was separated in April 1946. Used the GI Bill for 48 months, became an academic, got married and had a good life, which I still enjoy with my wife of 63 years.
1st Lt Onan A Hill was assigned to the 301st BG 353rd Squadron. Military Occupational Specialty (MOS): Navigator/Mickey Operator.
