Harold Hampshire
Harold D. Hampshire, 78, Escondido, CA ;died Sunday, May 25, 2003.
Born May 18, 1925, in Eads, Colo., he lived in Escondido for 37 years. He was a mechanic for the City of Escondido for eight years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 301st Bomb Group, 353rd Squadron during World War II. He was a member of the 301st Bomb Group/Wings Association.
He enjoyed coin collecting. Mr. Hampshire was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard "Sonny" Lepine, on May 23, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Hampshire of Escondido; son David Dale Hampshire of River Ridge, La.; daughters Elaine Lepine of La Mesa and Diane Saavedra of Houston; grandchildren Deborah, Lorraine, Ian, Uriah and Stacy; and eight great-grandchildren. Viewing is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 2, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel, 1919 E. Valley Parkway in Escondido. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 2640 Glenridge Road with the Rev. Nerice Kaufmann officiating. McLeod Mortuary is handling arrangements.
