Doria Hamel
Doria E. Hamel, 89, died May 26, 2003 at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Portsmouth, NH after a period of failing health. He was born in Allenstown, the son of Edouard and Bernadette (Leduc) Hamel. He lived in Portsmouth for more than 40 years. Hamel served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters as an aircraft gunner for the 301st Bombardment Group, 32nd Squadron. He worked as a self employed painter before retiring. Survivors include a sister, Gisele Racine Hummer of Pembroke; a brother, Florian Hamel of Concord; and nieces and nephews. Two siblings, Henry Hamel and Bruyere Hamel, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. The Rev. Wilfred Deschamps of St. John the Baptist parish will officiate. Petit Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
