5/11/1943 When approaching a target Marsala, the plane badly damaged and separated from squadron, His LT was badly damaged and wounded his eyes. He stayed at his post and managed to kill 1 ME109 within 100yards of the AC DFC 5/24/1943 AM/OLC 4/6/1943 Robert was listed on a roster of personnel assigned to the 301st Bombardment Group on this date, 6 April 1943, when they were awarded a Presidential Unit Citation (PUC).
