Moonlight Cocktail went down in the Mediterranean Sea on a mission to the oil refineries in Romania. The pilot and co-pilot were killed in flight by enemy aircraft. Sgt. John W. Terrell (top turrent gunner) suffered a back injury and shrapnel to the forehead. On a previous mission, Sgt. Monisillovich (tail gunner) bailed out over Yugoslavia to join the fight in his native land. He survived the war.
