301st Bombardment Group (H)
 The 99th Bomb Group, 347th Squadron's, Cotton Eyed Joe , 42-29480, makes a crash landing at the 301st's hard-surfaced runway at Tafaraoui, Algeria. The (H) stands for Heavy, and that meant B-17's, the Flying Fortress.
The 301st BG flew its first missions as part of the 8th AF in England. They were transferred to the newly created 12th AF and sent to North Africa in November of 1942.
